Business hand-shakeIt is not the words you use nor the position you have taken that determines the victor. The words are pretty unimportant actually. The dynamics of the interaction, what goes on behind the words, will decide who wins. No matter what the cause of the conflict is, certain ways to think can assist you in getting what you want.

The key strategy is for you to creatively search for ways for the other party to get some or all of what s/he wants so your antagonist will assist you in getting what you want. Sounds impossible. No, it is possible. You simply have to come up with some new options. The cause of the impasse is that too few options have surfaced. That is what creative thinking does—discovers new options.

How do you suddenly learn to think creatively? How do you begin?

You simply tap into the abilities of your Right Brain. It is right there between your ears. Because our culture is so focused on logic, analysis and language, most of us forget to use our Right Brain. Yet your Right Brain has abilities that seem magical, until you get used to them.
